Reliability | The degree of consistency that a measuring method or device produces. |
Intrarater reliability: | The consistency of repeated measurements of the same observation by the same rater. |
Interrater reliability: | The consistency of repeated measurements of the same observation by different raters. |
Validity Validity | is the degree to which data or results of a study are correct or true. |
Concurrent validity: | The degree to which the measurement being validated agrees with an established measurement standard administered at approximately the same time. Concurrent validity is a form of criterion validity. |
Construct validity: | The relationship between an instrument and an established theoretical framework. Construct validity is based on theory and not statistical analysis. |
Content validity: | The degree to which the indicator provides a complete representation of the domain of interest. |
Criterion validity: | The degree to which a relationship exists between a measurement being validated and other measures. |
External validity: | The degree to which results of the research study are generalizable. |
Internal validity: | The degree to which the reported outcomes of the research study are a consequence of the relationship between the independent and dependent variables and not the result of extraneous factors. |
Predictive validity: | The ability of an instrument to predict the occurrence of a future behavior or event. Predictive validity is a form of criterion validity. |
