| Question | Answer |
| Matter | Anything that occupies space and has shape or form. |
| Nucleus | The center of an atom. Contains protons and neutrons. |
| Neutron | One of the three particles that compose an atom. These particles have no electrical charge. |
| Sine wave | A repeating wave form, as seen in an AC current. Also called a sinusoidal form. |
| Wavelength | The distance from one crest of a wave to the next. |
| Photon | The smallest possible unit of electromagnetic energy. A tiny "bullet" of energy. |
| Transformer | The device used to produce the high voltage needed for x-ray production. |
| Milliampere (MA) | Used to measure the x-ray tube current. Equal to 1/1000 of an ampere (0.001 A). |
| Resistance (R) | Any property of the circuit that opposes or hinders the flow of current. |
| Molecules | Two or more atoms chemically combined. |
| Potential Difference | The force or strength of the electrons flowing within an electric circuit. |
| Proton | One of three particles that compose an atom. These particles have a positive electrical charge. |
| Rectification | The process of changing alternating current into direct current to produce x-rays. Alternating current can be converted so that it flows in one direction only. |
| Volt (V) | The unit used to measure potential difference. |
