| Term | Definition |
| Reference Point | a place or object used to see if something is moving |
| International System of Units (SI) | A measurement scientists around the world use to communicate clearly |
| Instantaneous Speed | The rate at which and object is moving at a given time |
| Velocity | Speed in a given direction |
| Average speed | quotient of a total distance by total time |
| Meter | The SI unit of length |
| Speed | The distance an object travels per unit of time |
| Time (On Graph) | Goes on the x axis |
| Distance (On Graph) | Goes on the y axis |
| Positive Acceleration (On Graph) | When line on graph goes up |
| Negative Acceleration (On Graph) | When line on graph goes down |
| Acceleration | Change in speed and/or direction |
| Slope | The steepness of a line on a graph |
| Rise | The vertical difference between any two points on a line |
| Run | The horizontal difference between the same two points as the rise |
| Motion | The speed and direction of an object |
| Vector | Has magnitude/size AND a direction |
| Scalar | ONLY has a magnitude/size |
| Magnitude | Greatness or size |
| Direction | a course along which someone or something moves. |
| Displacement | the moving of something from its place or position. |
| Acceleration Formula | Final Speed-Initial Speed over Time |
| Slope Formula | Rise over run |
