| Term | Definition |
| integer | a positive or negative whole number |
| rational number | Numbers with decimals or fractions |
| positive direction on a number line | right/up |
| negative direction on a number line | left/down |
| sum | the total when you add |
| difference | the total when you subtract |
| opposite | the same number, where one is positive and one is negative |
| additive inverse | a property that states if you add a number and its opposite, it equals 0 |
| product | The answer when you multiply numbers together. |
| quotient | The answer when you divide numbers. |
| numerator | top part of the fraction |
| denominator | bottom of the fraction |
