primary colour | colour that only contains natural pigments |
secondary colour | colour created by mixing primary colours |

violet | colour created by mixing red and blue |

tertiary colour | colour created by mixing a secondary colour and a primary colour |
turquoise | colour created by mixing blue and green |
hue | the name of a colour |
saturation | the intensity or purity of a hue |
high saturation | the colour is really bright |
desaturation | the colour looks washed out or greyed out |
value | the degree of lightness or darkness of a hue |
shade | a hue produced by adding black |
tint | a hue produced by adding white |
tone | a hue produced by adding grey |
foreground | the part of the picture that is nearest to the viewer |
background | the part of the picture that is furthest from the viewer |
