| Analysis | The author connects the claim, warrant, and evidence -- Authors words |
| Claim | Side that the writer takes in an argument --thesis of the entire paper |
| Counterclaim | opposite side of the argument |
| Defend | Supporting the argument ; justification for the argument |
| Evidence | Quote or a paraphrase from a text/ source to defend the claim or warrent |
| Irrelevant Information | Information that does not pertain to their topic |
| Refute | disproving the argument; trying to prove the argument or theory to be wrong |
| Relevant Information | Information that pertains to the topic |
| Warrent | reason to back up the claim -- Topic sentence of the paragraph --Includes part of the claim in the sentence |
