| angle | The union of two rays with a common endpoint |
| ray | A part of a line consisting of an endpoint and all points on one side of that endpoint |
| complementary angles | Two angles that have a sum of 90 degrees |
| supplementary angles | Two angles that have a sum of 180 degrees |
| congruent | Having the same shape and size |
| transversal | A line that intersects two or more lines at different points |
| alternate exterior angles | Angles that are outside the parallels and on opposite sides of the transversal |
| alternate interior angles | Angles that are inside the parallels and on opposite sides of the transversal |
| corresponding angles | Angles that are in the same (relative) spot |
| vertical angles | A pair of angles formed by two intersecting lines |
| exterior angle of a triangle | The angle formed by extending a side of a triangle |
| remote interior angle | The nonadjacent angles across from an exterior angle of a triangle |
| transformation | A change in the position or size of a figure on a plane |
| preimage | The original image in a transformation |
| image | The position of a figure after a transformation |
| translation | A transformation that slides each point of a figure the same distance in the same direction |
| reflection | A transformation in which a figure is flipped over a line of reflection |
| rotation | A transformation in which each point of the pre-image turns around the center of rotation |
| similar figures | Figures in which the lengths of the corresponding sides are proportional and corresponding angles are congruent |
| proportion | An equation stating that two ratios are equal |
| scale factor | The ratio of the lengths of any pair of corresponding sides or edges in similar figures |
| dilation | Transforming a figure bigger or smaller |
| hypotenuse | The side of a right triangle that is opposite the right angle |
| legs | In a right triangle, the sides that form the right angle |
| Pythagorean Theorem | a^2 + b^2 = c^2 |
| surface area | The sum of the areas of the faces of a 3d figure |
| lateral area | The sum of the areas of the lateral (side) face of a 3d figure |
