| Photoreceptors | The retina contains two kinds of photoreceptors; rods(black and white) and cones(color). The axons form a bundle called the optic nerve and cross before reaching the occipital lobe. (Optic nerve causes blind spot) |

| Sensory adaptation and habituation | Sensory adaptation: occurs in sensory receptor cells by becoming less responsive to unchanging stimuli. Habituation: occurs in brain by filtering out information. |
