| Term | Definition |
| Snow | Solid precipitation formed in the atmosphere by sublimation of water vapor onto solid nuclei. |
| Dusting | A very miniscule snow fall. |
| Ice | Frozen Water |
| Avalanche | A large mass of snow or ice detached from its position and moving swiftly down a mountainside. |
| Blizzard | A strong wind where snow drifts so high and thick it is difficult to tell whether the sky is clear or clouded. |
| Black Ice | Thin dark appearing salt-water ice without snow covering, the top is usually wet from newly melted snow. |
| Yellow Snow | Don't Eat this one! |
| Drift | Wind-driven snow in motion along the surface, can reach heights of 100 feet or more. |
| Frost | A light feathery deposit of ice through condensation of water vapor, directly in the crystalline form. |
| Sleet | Frozen raindrops or wet snowflakes. |
| Snowstorm | Large numbers of snow crystals or flakes falling in a continuous stream from the sky and restricting visibility to about a mile. |
