Term | Definition |
exponent | In a power, the number of times the base is used as a factor. |
cubed | A number raised to the third power. |
squared | A number raised to the second power |
factor | A number that divides into a whole number evenly. Also, a number that is multiplied by another number. |
prime factorization | A way of expressing a composite number as a product of its prime factors. |
power | A number obtained by raising a base number to an exponent. |
Distributive Property | The property that states that to multiply a sum by a number, you can multiply each addend by the same number and add the products. |
Power of 10 | The result of using only 10 as a factor. For example: a number like 10, 100, and 1,000. |
