5th grade Chapter 2 vocabulary review

exponent In a power, the number of times the base is used as a factor.
cubed A number raised to the third power.
squared A number raised to the second power
factor A number that divides into a whole number evenly. Also, a number that is multiplied by another number.
prime factorization A way of expressing a composite number as a product of its prime factors.
power A number obtained by raising a base number to an exponent.
Distributive Property The property that states that to multiply a sum by a number, you can multiply each addend by the same number and add the products.
Power of 10 The result of using only 10 as a factor. For example: a number like 10, 100, and 1,000.
