| cell membrane | filters what goes in and out of the cell (like a bouncer at the club)- selectively permeable |
| nucleus | control center of the cell- holds all genetic info |
| nuclear envelope | selectively permeable for nucleus |
| nuclear pore | tunnel going through membrane- allows bigger things in/out of nucleus |
| nucleolus | stores information for making RDA |
| chromatin | uncoiled DNA (looks like noodles) |
| cytoplasm | a jelly-like substance that gives the cell its shape |
| mitochondrion | the power house of the cell |
| golgi complex | UPS of the cell; packages and ships things to other parts of the cell |
| centriole | used when the cell divides |
| microtubule | cellular highway- moves things from one place to another |
| microfilament | looks like string- makes up cell skeleton |
| ribosome | makes proteins |
| Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) | rough with ribosomes (protein factory)vs. smooth w/ no ribosomes (makes fats) |
