Term | Definition |
Access Copyright | a not-for-profit organization that manages copyright licensing for secondary reproduction of original works. |
Copyright | A set of regulations governing the reproduction of original intellectual property. |
Intellectual Property | Non-physical objects that embody the expression of one's original idea(s). |
Royalty | A payment made to an original creator in return for the authorized use of the intellectual property. |
Trade-Marks | A government registered logo that identifies the goods or services available from a particular provider. |
Public Domain | Intellectual property that belongs to the public which can be used without the creator's permission. |
Moral Rights | Rights given to the owner of a copyright that ensures control over the work's paternity, integrity and association. |
Performing Rights | The copy rights that apply to a performer for a particular performance piece regardless of the them being the original creator. |
Plagiarism | A misrepresentation of the original source of an intellectual property or its unauthorized use. |
Fair Dealing | Exceptions to copyright infringement that are set out in the Canadian Copyright Act Section 29. |
Patent | A government granted right that restricts the production of an invention. |
Blanket License | A license that allows the owner to play or perform a collection of music as many times as wanted, without having to purchase an individual license each time. |
