No-Tech (No-Technology) | Any assistive device that is not electronic. |
Examples of No-Tech | -Note-taking -A nonslip placemat on a student's desk that makes it easier for her to pick up items because it stops them from sliding |
Low-Tech (Low-Technology) | Low cost (typically non electronic devices) |
Examples of Low-tech | -Photo album where a child points to a picture to express what they would like to eat. -A rubber pencil grip that enables a student with a disability to better grasp a pencil or pen. |
Specialized Tech | Assistive technology that requires more training and more funds. These items are usually electronic or computerized. |
Examples of Specialized Tech | -power wheelchairs -hearing aids -braille readers -specialized computer hardware: such as touchscreens and specialized software. |
