---|---|---|---|---|---|
parabolic function | "U" shaped, 2 is the highest power of x, a polynomial function (all coefficients are real and all exponents are integers)
🗑
linear function | line, has a slope and y intercept, y=mx+b, highest power of x is 1, a polynomial function (all coefficients are real and all exponents are integers)
🗑
absolute value function | lxl, graph looks like a v
🗑
rational function (reciprocal, or hyperbolic function) | two branches, asymptotes, x on the bottom of a fraction.
🗑
radical function | square root function, starts at a point, starts steep then gets shallower forever
🗑
cubic function | sideways "s", highest power of x is 3, a polynomial function (all coefficients are real and all exponents are integers)
🗑
quartic function | can be W shaped, highest power of x is 4, a polynomial function (all coefficients are real and all exponents are integers)
🗑
quintic function | highest power of x is 5, a polynomial function (all coefficients are real and all exponents are integers)
🗑
constant function | y=10, flat line, y is a constant value, it does not vary depending on an x value. A polynomial function where there is no x variable.
🗑
vertical line | this is not a function. It fails the vert line test. x=5, slope infinity (undefined)

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.
To hide a column, click on the column name.
To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.
You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.
Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
If you know all the data on any row, you can temporarily remove it by tapping the trash can to the right of the row.
