Adding and Subtracting Decimals

Quiz yourself by thinking what should be in each of the black spaces below before clicking on it to display the answer.

To add decimal numbers first put the numbers in a vertical column,aligning the decimal points.   Then add each column of digits, starting on the right and working left. If the sum of the column is more than 10,"carry" digits to the next column on the left. Place the decimal point in the answer directly below the decimal points in the terms.

To subtract decimal numbers, first put the numbers in the veritical column, aligning the decimal points.   Then sub each col,starting on right &working left. If the digit being sub in a col is larger than the digit above,it "borrow" a digit from the next col to the left. Place the decimal point in the answer directly below the decimal points in the terms.
