Chemical Changes

        Help!

Question
Answer
Physical Change   A change that changes a substance's physical property only (Ex. color, size, shape, and state of matter).
🗑
Physical Property   Characteristics that can be observed without changing the matter itself (Ex. color, density, melting and boiling points).
🗑
Chemical Change   A change to both the physical and chemical properties of a substance; A new substance is formed.
🗑
Chemical Property   Characteristics that can be observed ONLY when the matter changes as a result of a chemical reaction (Ex. Decaying, burning, rusting, or cooking).
🗑
Evidence of Chemical Changes   The following are signs of a chemical change: Color change, Production of a gas (bubbles), production of precipitate, light formation, and temperature (heat) change.
🗑
Law of Conservation of Mass   During either a physical or chemical changes, the total mass/weight of the matter is conserved (kept); Matter is neither created or destroyed, it just changes forms.
🗑
Weight   The measurement of an object's mass as GRAVITY acts on it.
🗑
Precipitate   A solid that forms and separates from a solution; Is evidence of a chemical change.
