| 知床半島 | 北海道北東端、オホーツク海に突出する細長い半島で、「○○富士」と呼ばれる羅臼岳や知床岳など、半島の中央には1000ｍ以上の火山が連なり、海岸線は断崖が多い。また、半島西側のウトロルート沿いには、羅臼岳北東麓にある火山性の堰止湖群の知床五湖や豪快に流れ落ちるオシンコシンの滝、滝壺が温泉のカムイワッカの滝などがある。2005年にユネスコの世界自然遺産に登録された。

| 有珠山 | 北海道南西部、洞爺湖南岸に位置する活火山で、2000年3月の大噴火は記憶に新しい。支笏洞爺国立公園に属する。

| 宗谷岬 | 北海道最北端、宗谷海峡に臨む、北緯45度31分に位置する日本最北端の岬で、岬の先端からはロシアのサハリンがはっきりと見える。

| 釧路湿原 | 北海道南東部、釧路川に沿って広がる日本最大の湿原で、タンチョウヅルの繁殖地で知られる。1987年に国立公園に指定された。また、日本初のラムサール条約に指定登録された。

| 阿寒湖 | 雌阿寒岳（1499ｍ）と雄阿寒岳（1370ｍ）の中間にある「く」の字形の湖で、特別天然記念物マリモの原産地として有名である。阿寒国立公園の中心をなす。
