Balloon Angioplasty   Temporarily inserting a small balloon tipped catheter into a stenotic artery and expanding balloon at site of blockage to help widen; usually accompanied by a small coil implant (stent) to keep the vessel open

Cardiac Pacemaker   Surgically implanted, battery operated, device under skin; to aid faulty electrical conduction system: slow heart rate and arrythmias; can help with fatigue, lightheadedness and fainting

Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG)   Treat coronary arteries that are narrowed or occluded and revascularize myocardium; coronary arteries and veins are re-routed around occlusion

Heart Transplant   Replace a failing heart with a healthy one; reserved for end stage heart failure where no other treatments have been successful

Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD)   Mini pump implanted to provide mechanical support to ventricle; right ventricle device (RVAD) bypases R ventricle through R atrium and Pulmonary artery; LVAD bypasses L ventricel; BiVAD both ventricles are bypassed; for those waiting for transplant
