Mobility   Ability to initiate movement through a functional ROM.

Stability   Ability to maintain a position or posture through cocontraction and tonic holding around axis. Unspported sitting with midline control is an example of stability.

Controlled Mobility   Ability to move within a weight bearing position or rotate around a long axis. Activities in prone on elbows or wt. shifting in quadruped.

Skill   Ability to consistently perform functional tasks and manipulate the environment with normal postural reflex mechanisms and balance reactions. ADL's and community locomotion,

Contract-Relax (CR)   At point of limitation pt performs a maximal contraction of the antagonistic muscle group. Therapist resists mvt for 8 to 10 sec.

Hold-Relax (HR)   Isometric contraction used to increase ROM. Facilitated for all muscle groups at point of restriction. Relax then able to move through newly acquired ROM.
