Coast Guard Salvage Policy states that   When no commercial salvage company is on scene the Coast Guard may engage in limited salvage when it can prevent a situation from worsening or a complete loss of a vessel. Any operation is performed at the discretion of the OINC

Coast Guard Firefighting policy states that   Coast Guard will not engage in independent firefighting operations except to save life or property. Or in early stages of a fire to prevent a bigger threat. They may also assist other agencies if approved by the OINC

D8 Towing policy states that   If it can be done safely, all persons should be transferred to the CG vessel (coxn do an on scene assesment to determine safety) CG can not force master to leave his vessel. If master refuses to leave his vessel, make a note in the chrono and case pkg.
