ATOM   Small particle that makes up most types of matter, the basic unit of a chemical element.
🗑
LAW OF CONSERVATION OF MATTER   Matter is not created or destroyed, it only changes form.
🗑
ELEMENT   Substance that can’t be broken down into simpler substances, made of only one kind of atom.
🗑
ELECTRON   Negatively charged particle of an atom.
🗑
NUCLEUS   Central part of the atom.
🗑
PROTON   Positively charged particle in the nucleus.

ELECTRON CLOUD   Region around the nucleus organized into shells or energy levels.
🗑
ION   An atom in which the number of protons differs from the number of electrons
🗑
PERIODIC TABLE OF ELEMENTS   Arrangement of the chemical elements ordered by their atomic number and chemical properties.
🗑
ATOMIC MASS NUMBER   Total number of a chemical elements protons and neutrons.
🗑
REACTIVITY   How easily an element will combine with other elements
🗑
ATOMIC NUMBER   Number of protons in an atom.

ISOTOPES   Atoms of the same element that have different numbers of neutrons.
🗑
PERIOD   Arrangement of chemical elements in a series of rows with similar properties and electron orbitals.
🗑
GROUP   Family of chemical elements in columns with similar chemical properties and number of valence electrons.
🗑
METALS   Elements with a shiny or metallic luster and good conduction of heat and electricity.
🗑
NONMETALS   Elements that are usually dull in appearance, and poor conductors of heat and electricity.
🗑

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.

To hide a column, click on the column name.

To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.

You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.

Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
