Justice is… | …giving people what they deserve.

What is justice? | At the most general level it signals “doing, being, declaring, or bringing about what is right,” with the specific connotation being dictated by context.

What is justice? | It is restorative before it’s retributive.
It’s not just something applied to big social and cultural problems.
It is not just some big theory. It must be applied in the routine of our lives.
It is multifaceted.

How is it is multifaceted? | Working toward the deliverance of the poor and powerless from the injustice that they regularly experience
Lifting the foot of domineering power off the neck of the dominated and oppressed

Restoring the outcasts, the excluded, the exiles, and the refugees to community

What are the common images of justice? | The prophetic symbol of justice is a mighty, surging river. Biblical justice is thus not a static state but, says Abraham J. Herschel, “Justice is more than an idea or a norm: justice is charged with the omnipotence of God. What ought to be, shall be!”
