Equation   A mathematical sentence stating that two expressions are equal.

Inequality   A statement that contains > (greater than) , < (less than), ≥ (greater than or equal to), or ≤ (less than or equal to) to compare two expressions.

Substitute   The replacement of the variable of an expression with a number.

Independent Variable   One of two variables in a relationship. Any value can be used for the independent variable. The value that is used determines the value of the other variable, the dependent variable.

x axis   The horizontal line on a coordinate plane.
