Colloids   Volume expanders, Increases oncotic pressure, used to treat shock and burns and to treat acute liver failure, plasmanate is used instead of plasma to replace body protein

Blood & Blood products   Whole blood w/o plasma decreases risk of fluid overload, decreased exposure to plasma antigens, and has a possible reduced risk of transmitting hepatitis B or C.
