Important Terms for Geography

QuestionAnswer
Glacier Large sheets of ice found on earth's surface.
Culture Way of life of a group of people who share language, government, and other characteristics.
Region Areas with common characteristics.
Equator Imaginary line that is 0 degrees latitude and runs around the middle of the earth.
Desertification The process when a desert grows.
Water Cycle The process that water follows as it moves from the earth to the sky and back to the earth.
Precipitation Rain,snow, sleet and hail falling to the earth.
Evaporation Water changing from a liquid to a vapor as it is heated.
Condensation Water changing from a vapor to tiny droplets and forming clouds.
Navigable A river that is wide and deep enough for large ships to use.
