| Relative Location | Description of where a place is in relation to the features around it |
| Place | Describes the characteristics of a location that make it unique, or different (physical and human characteristics) 'What is it like there? |
| Human-Environment Interaction | How people affect their environment and how the environment affects them |
| Movement | Explains how and why people, ideas, and good move from place to place |
| Region | -What places have in common. -Areas of the Earth's surface that have several common characteristics such as land, natural resources, or population. |
| Region-example? | examples: Great Plains, Farm Belt, Pacific Northwest |
| Movement- example? | Refugees leaving their home country because of war or famine |
| Relative Location- example? | Manhattan, Kansas is North of I-70 and west of Topeka |
| Exact Location- Example? | Topeka: 39º 04' N Latitude 95º 69' W Longitude |
| Human-Environment Interaction-example? | Building a dam, pollution, and natural disasters |
| Place-example? | Manhattan, Kansas is in the Flint Hills, is a college and military town, and is by Tuttle Creek Lake. |
