Climate and Weather and Why Do Temperatures Differ?

Weather Conditions in the air and sky at a certain time and place
Climate Average weather of a place over many years
Precipitation Water that falls to the ground as rain, snow, sleet, or hail
Temperature Measure of how hot or cold the air is.
Climates are different because different places get different amounts of what? Direct sunlight
Polar Zones are also called High Latitudes
Tropics are also called Low Latitudes
Temperate Zones are also called Middle Latitudes
Polar Zone climate Always cool or cold
Tropics climate Always warm or hot
Temperate Zone climate All four seasons
Where are the Polar Zones? North of the Arctic Circle and south of the Antarctic Circle.
Where are the Tropics? Between the Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn
Where are the Temperate Zones? In between the Tropics and the Polar Zones
As altitude increases… Temperature goes down
