| economy | how people of a country earn their incomes and provide for their needs |
| export | an item shipped out of a country to another country |
| import | an item shipped into a country from another country |
| manufacturing | the making or producing of goods, especially by machines |
| services | the providing of a service (doing something for someone) instead of making a product |
| cultural diffusion | process of spreading culture traits from one area to another, often due to war, travel, and trade |
| culture | way of life of a group of people who share similar beliefs and customs |
| globalization | the development of a world culture and interdependent world economy |
| rural | relating to the countryside |
| urban | relating to the city |
| primary source | a document or object produced by someone who participated in an event or lived during the time being studied; eyewitness account |
| secondary source | a document or object produced after an event happened by someone who was not actually there |
| absolute location | a description of a specific point on the earth's surface, often found using latitude and longitude |
| relative location | a description of a point in relation to other landmarks or features |
| transportation barrier | a geographic feature that prevents or slows transportation |
| transportation corridor | a generally straight pathway free of barriers where transportation can occur |
| culture region | an area of the world in which most people share a similar culture |
| culture trait | a specific way of doing something passed down through generations within a group |
| multiculturalism | having elements that come from more than one culture |
