Topsoil The fertile soil that crops depend on to grow
Agribusiness An industry based on huge farms that rely on machines and mass production methods
Aerospace The industry that makes vehicles that travel in the air and in outer space
Nomadic A person who lives by moving from place to place to follow and hunt herds of migrating animals or to lead herds of grazing animals to fresh pastures
Pueblo A town built by the Pueblo people in the American Southwest
Mission A Catholic based community in the West
Frontier A region just beyond the edge of a settled area
Manifest Destiny The idea that it was the right of Americans to expand Westward to the Pacific Ocean
Annex To declare ownership of a area
Extinct Describing a particular kind of plant or animal that has disappeared completely from Earth

Cordillera A region of parallel mountain chains
Timberline The elevation above which it is too cold for trees to grow
