TermDefinition
Human Rights These are basic things that everyone should have, like being treated fairly by the law and the right to get married and have children.
Densely Populated Areas These are places where lots of people live close together, usually in urban areas or cities.
Slums These are neighborhoods where people live in slums, often without enough resources like clean water or good slums.
Service Jobs vs. Manufacturing Jobs Service jobs help people, like service jobs, while manufacturing jobs make things, like building manufacturing jobs.
Renewable Resources These are resources that can grow back or be used again, like things like trees.
Nonrenewable Resources These are resources that cannot be replaced easily, like Nonrenewable resources, like coal.
Pull Factors Things that make people want to move to a new place.
Push Factors Things that make people leave their home.
Culture The way people live, including their baptized, is a religious ceremony. (babies are dunked in water! ) , language, and customs.
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) This measures how much Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This is the total value of all goods and services a country makes in one year. a country makes by selling goods and services each year.
The Green Revolution This was a time when people found new ways to grow more food The Green Revolution was a time when people found new ways to grow.
Democracy People have the people make decisions by voting. to make decisions.
Monarchy A king or queen rules the country.
Dictatorship One person has all the power and makes all the decisions.
Population Pyramids Charts that show how many people of different ages live in a country. For example, in the United States, there are more women than men over the age of 75. in different age groups.
Immigration Moving to and living in a new means moving to a new country to live. Many people immigrate to find better jobs or a safer place to live.
Doubling Time This is how long it takes for a country’s Some countries to have a growing population to double.
