Map Reading Vocab

Study the vocabulary words that are used for reading maps.

TermDefinition
Map Title Tells the reader about the subject of the map / what area the map covers
Legend Gives information about the symbols on a map
Compass Rose A map symbol that shows the cardinal directions
Cardinal Directions north, south, east, and west
Scale Used to measure distance on a map
Grid System Uses a grid of letters and numbers to help the map reader find locations easily
