cuneiform the Mesopotamian system of writing
hieroglyphics a figure or symbol with a hidden meaning.
papyrus a material on which to write, prepared from thin strips of the pith of this plant laid together, soaked, pressed, and dried, used by the ancint Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans.
scribe a person who serves as a professional copyist, especially one who made copies of manuscripts before the invention of printing.
nomad a member of a people or tribe that has no permanent abode but moves about from place to place, usually seasonally and often following a traditional route or circuit according to the state of the pasturage or food supply.
ziggurat the name of the temple where Sumerians believed their gods lived
