| Term | Definition |

| Weather | The condition of the sky and air outside. |
| Climate | The average of the weather over the years. |
| Precipitation | Water that falls from the sky in different forms as rain,sleet, hail, and snow. |
| Temperature | How hot or cold it is. |
| Polar Zone/ High latitudes | Very cold. |
| Tropics/ Low latitudes | Very hot. |
| Temperate Zones/ Middle latitudes | Between high and low latitudes. |
| Altitude | Above sea level. |
| Water Cycle | The movement of water from Earth's surface into the atmosphere and back. |
| Evaporation | The process of a liquid turning in to a gas. |
| Intertropical Convergence Zone | The area of rising air near the equator. |
| Tropical Cyclone | An intense rain storm with strong winds. |
| Hurricane | A cyclone that forms in the Atlantic, it causes a lot of damage. |
| Tornado | A funnel of wind that runs 300 miles per hour. |
| Tropical Wet | Combine hot weather and heavy rainfall year-round. |
| Tropical Wet and Dry | A wet season in summer and a dry season in winter. |
| Humid Subtropical | Year-round precipitation with mild winters and hot summers. |
