| desert pavement | a surface layer closely packed or cemented pebbled from which fine material have been removed by wind in arid regions; deflations leads to this |
| blowout | a depression concavated by the wind in easy eroded deposits |
| loess | wind deposit; wind carried materials far from its source |
| leeward side of sand dune | slip face; angle of repose |
| windward side of sand dunes | cross beds |
| barchan dunes | slowest wind speed; nor water or vegetation; shaped like crescent; solitary; tips point downward |
| transverse dunes | highest wind speed; no vegetation or water; form series of long ridges oriented at right angle |
| barchanoid dunes | medium wind speed; type of transverse dune; no vegetation or water |
| longitudinal dunes | no vegetation or water; forms parallel to prevailing wind |
| parabolic dunes | vegetation is present; forms when vegetation partially covers sand |
| star dunes | no vegetation or water; forms the wing direction is varied |
| suspension | when very fine first or dust particles are lifted not the wind |
| slatation | the movement of hard particles such as sand over an uneven surface in a turbulent flow or air or water |
| surface creep | process in which large particles which are too heave to be lofted into the air are moved by wind (blowout) |
