Eathquake definition

| Epicentre | The point on the earths surface directly above the focus. |

| Magnitude | A measure of an earthquake's strength, based on the wave motion and the energy released. |
| Tsunami | A giant wave caused by an underwater earthquake. |
| Richter scale | Magnitude of earthquake is measured on a Richter scale. |
| Liquefaction | When clay and sands mix with groundwater during an earthquake. |
| Seismology | Study of earthquakes. |
| Subduction zone | Where one plate subducts under the other due to it being heavier. |
| Earthquake | A sudden violent shaking of the ground, typically causing great destruction, as a result of movements within the earth's crust or volcanic action. |
