Malaria This disease is commonly associated with poverty and is spread by mosquitoes. Each year 1-3 million mostly in Sub- Saharan Africa die of this disease and hundreds of millions are effected
Rift Valley A deep valley that forms where two plates move apart
Oasis A fertile place where there is water and vegetation
Berlin Conference A meeting from 1884- 1885 at which representatives of European nations agreed on rules colonization of Africa
Rai A style of music fusing Arabic and Algerian folk elements with Western rock
Fang Sculpture Carved boxes containing the skulls
