TermDefinition
Population The amount of people in a particular place.
Developed country Countries that are wealthy, have good services and a high standard of living.
Developing country Countries that are poor, with few services and a low standard of living.
Infrastructure Networks such as road, rail, electricity, water, telephone and broadband.
Demographic Transition Model Shows how changes in birth and death rates over time are related to a country's development.
Population Pyramid A bar chart displaying the population structure of an area.
Population density The average number of people living in an area, usually per km2.
Population distribution The spread of people over an area.
Migration The movement of people from one area to another to live or to work.
Immigrant A person who enters a country with the intention of living there. Think I - IN.
Emigrant A person who has moved in search of work. Think E - EXIT.
