| birthrate | the number of babies born compared to the total number of people in a population a given time. |
| doubling time | the number of years it takes a population to double in size based on it's current growth rate. |
| population distribution | the geographic pattern of where people live. |
| population density | the average number of people living within a square mile or a square kilometer. |
| urban | describes an area that is densely populated. |
| rural | describes an area that is lightly populated. |
| emigrate | to leave ones home to live in another time. |
| immigrate | to enter and live in a new country. |
| refugee | a person who flees a country because of violence,war,persecution,or disaster. |
| urbanization | when a city grows larger and spreads into nearby areas. |
| megalois | a huge city or cluster of cities with an extremly large population. |
