Climate/Landform

TermDefinition
climate zones are divisions of the Earth's climates into general climate zones according to average temperatures and average rainfall.
polar coldest with temperatures almost always below freezing
temperate contains most of the Earth’s land masses with more moderate temperatures and rainfall year-round
tropical has the warmest average temperatures and gets the most rain
valley Low-lying areas between two mountains or hills.
desert Large, dry and hot areas of land which receive little or no rainfall throughout the year.
mountains Highest landform on the surface of the earth.
plains areas of flat land
plateau Flat topped highland with steep sides.
hills Are lower than mountains but are higher than their surrounding areas.
hills Are usually covered with grass.
mountains It is usually found to be conical in shape with steep sides and a pointed tip called a peak.
desert The vegetation is scanty due to the shortage of water.
valley When rivers flow down the mountainsides and hillsides, it wears off the rocks and soil.
