Middle East: General Terms to know-1st six weeks

TermDefinition
Desalination Process of removing salt and minerals from sea water to create freshwater for irrigation, industry, and drinking
Irrigation Watering crops often in drier areas and drought
Non-renewable resources Resources that are finite (come to an end) like fossil fuels
Renewable Resources Resources that can be replaced or replenished naturally over time, such as wood.
Infrastructure Basic parts or systems that support a place or economy, including items such as pipelines
OPEC International organization; coordinates economic policies about oil production
Theocracy Form of government; laws, and their enforcement are guided by religious authorities
Secular Parts of a society outside the influence of religion
Polytheism Belief in multiple (many) gods or goddesses
Monotheism Belief in one god.
