3 types of rock

TermDefinition
limestone. Sedimentary. Formed on sea beds. Skeletons of tiny sea creatures. Piled up over millions of years. White/grey.
Sandstone. Sedimentary. Stone wearing away at earth. Transported by wind and river. Brown or red.
Quartzite. Metamorphic. Sandstone changed into metamorphic rock. During contact with magma. Grey/white.
Marble. Metamorphic When molten magma forces itself into limestone, Puts it under great heat and pressure. White/sometimes red/green/black.
Shale Sedimentary. Compaction, Quiet water. Grey/black/red/brown/green
Basalt. Igneous. Lava spread out across earths crust. Cooled quickly & solidified. Dark grey/black.
Granite. Igneous Magma cooled very slowly over millions/year. Black/grey/pink,
