Equator an imaginary HORIZONTAL line that divides the earth in two equal parts; the northern hemisphere and southern hemisphere.
Prime Meridian an imaginary VERTICAL line that divides the earth in two equal parts; the eastern hemisphere and western hemisphere.
Hemisphere one half of the earth
latitude imaginary HORIZONTAL lines on a map or globe that measure north and south
map key labels the symbols on a map
scale measures distance on a map
continent the seven large masses of land on earth
ocean a large body of salt water
longitude imaginary VERTICAL lines on a map or globe that measure east to west
cardinal direction the four main directions; North, South, East,West
intermediate directions the directions that lie in between the cardinal directions; NW, NE, SW, SE
