Second Grade Landforms

Valley Lowland area between higher lands
Flood Occurs when large amounts of water cover land that is normally dry
Canyon has very steep sides
Barrier Island a thin band of land near a coast
Landforms Features of the earth's surface
Mountain place that is much higher than the land around it
Glaciers Huge sheets of ice
Volcano erupts and lava flows onto the land
Plateau flat area that is higher than the land around it
Plain flat grassy area
Desert hot dry land that is covered in sand
Peninsula body of land that is surrounded by water on 3 sides
Island land that is surrounded by water on all sides
