The Burren

TermDefinition
Flora The Burren has varied plant life, including orchids, ferns and avens.
Fauna The Burrens wildlife includes the green moth, butterflies, pine martens and wild goats.
Landscape The Burren has karst landforms, Aillwee Cave and the Cliffs of Moher.
History The Burren's monuments include dolmens, ring forts, churches and carved crosses.
Benefits of increased tourism Creates a rise in local employment and reduces out-migration.
Disadvantages of increased tourism Damaged flora, increased risk of destroying monuments and noise and air pollution.
Mullaghmore Mountain Where part of the Burren is situated that has been designated as a national park.
The Burren One of Ireland's most important tourist destinations.
