Barrier Island a coastal landform and a type of barrier system
Piedmont a gentle slope leading from the base of mountains to a region of flat land
Fall Line a narrow zone that marks the geological boundary between an upland region and a plain
Basins a bowl for washing, typically attached to a wall and having faucets connected to a water supply; a washbasin
Hot Spots a small area or region with a relatively hot temperature in comparison to its surroundings.
Natural Hazards A natural hazard is a threat of a naturally occurring event that will have a negative effect on people or the environment
Lichens simple slow-growing plant that typically forms a low crustlike, leaflike, or branching growth on rocks, walls, and trees
Alluvial Soil a fine-grained fertile soil deposited by water flowing over flood plains or in river beds
Newsprint cheap, low-quality, absorbent printing paper made from coarse wood pulp and used chiefly for newspapers
