What tools do geographers use?

| globe | A model of the Earth. |
| aerial photographs | photographs taken from the sky and used to create maps |
| satellite phtotgraphs | photographs taken from space |
| Infographics | Information Graphics are visual symbols of data |
| Geographic Information System (GIS) | computer-based program used to store, manage, and analyze data |
| physical map | shows the features or land forms of an area (mountains, rivers, lakes, etc. |
| road map | shows major highways, airports, cities, railroads, etc. |
| political map | shows countries, borders, major cities |
| climate map | shows the average weather of a region |
| topographical map | includes contour lines to show the elevation or height of an area |
| resource map | shows the distribution of various resources such as minerals, lumber, agriculture |
| economic map | shows information about wealth or money |
| cartographer | person who makes maps |
| projection | picture of the earth drawn on a flat surface |
