| Granular disintegration | a gradual splitting apart of the rock |
| Exfoliation/Spheroidal | In humid climates, where running water tends to round off surface features, the result is a peeling off of thin layers of rock |
| Frost shattering/Freeze Thaw | when water freezes in a crack it expands and then melts and then continuous that process until the rock breaks apart. |
| Biological | is a form of weathering caused by growth of roots and burrowing of animals. |
