TermDefinition
Mechanical/Physical is the process by which rocks break down through natural, physical means.
Granular disintegration a gradual splitting apart of the rock
Exfoliation/Spheroidal In humid climates, where running water tends to round off surface features, the result is a peeling off of thin layers of rock
Frost shattering/Freeze Thaw when water freezes in a crack it expands and then melts and then continuous that process until the rock breaks apart.
Biological is a form of weathering caused by growth of roots and burrowing of animals.
Chemical the rock undergoes a change in its chemical composition
Carbonation
