Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee (P&T) | the liaison between the department of pharmacy and the medical staff, consisting of physicians who represent the various clinical aspects. |
Turnaround time | the time required from order entry to delivery of medication to the patient care area. |
Dumbwaiter | an in-house elevator used to transport medications and supplies. |
Medication Administration Record (MAR) | a record maintained by the nursing staff containing information about the patient's medication and frequency of administration. |
Floor Stock System | system in which medications are provided to the nursing unit for administration to the pt by the nurse. |
Individual Prescription System | a system in which a multiple- day supply of each medication is dispensed for a patient upon receipt of prescriptions or medication orders |
Unit-dose Distribution System | a system in which medication is distributed in a single-dose or unit dose form from the pharmacy for use by the one administering the drug |
Unit-of-use | prescription medication that contains a quantity designed and intended to be dispensed directly to a patient for a specific use without modification |
