adjective a word that describes a noun or another adjective

conjuction a word that connects other words or ideas
interjection a word that expresses a feeling or emotion
concrete noun name thins you can see. these are usually people, places, or things
abstract nouns name things you cannot see. these are usually ideas, feelings, characteristics
common nouns the general name of a person, place, thing, or idea
proper nouns the specific person, place, thing, or idea
possessive nouns show ownership; the person or thing who possesses something gets the apostrophe
rules for possessive nouns for all singular nouns add:'s; for all pural nouns that end in s add:'; for all pural nouns that dont end in s add:'s
action verbs say something is happening, has happened, or will happen. some actions can be seen
linking verbs link the subject with some other words that describe it
verb phrase consists of one main verb and one or more helping verbs. some helping verbs can be used as main verbs
adjectives words that modify or describe nouns or other adjectives
predicate adjectives follows a linking verb and modifies the subject of the sentence
proper adjectives adjectives formed from proper nouns
prepositions show physical locations. they also show locations in time
prepositional phrase the preposition with its object
conjuction connects words or group of words. they also show a relationship between the words they connect
coordinating conjuction connect related words, group of words, or sentences
correlative conjuction used in pair to connect sentences
subordinating conjuctions used at the beginning of an adverb clause which modifies a verb, an adjective, or an adverb
